The GSB Sabha Mumbai supports the education of talented individuals from the community through both funds and scholarships, namely the Vidyanidhi Fund and the GSB Higher Education Fund.

Vidyanidhi Fund

This Fund is used to disburse educational assistance to the needy members of our Community. Assistance is given to school students from Std I to X, under-graduate and graduate college students and students pursuing post graduate/professional courses. Students from Mumbai, Thane District and Navi Mumbai are eligible to receive this assistance.

Higher Education Aid Fund

This Fund, started by  is used to disburse educational assistance to the needy and meritorious members of our Community.

The following guidelines have been drawn up for this scheme: 

  • Assistance will be granted to needy and meritorious students belonging to GSB Community with allegiance to Kashi, Kavale or Gokarna Parthagali Math.
  • Student should be residing and studying in India only. Students studying outside India will not be eligible to apply.
  • Family Income of the student, and other economic information captured in the form will be used to determine economic eligibility.
  • Only four year Professional Graduate course in Engineering, Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Physiotherapy etc. and one year B.Ed course after graduation are eligible to apply.
  • Three year courses and Post Graduate courses are not eligible to apply.
  • As this scheme is for meritorious student only, they should have secured admission in GOVT/ GOVT AIDED OR GOVT QUOTA SEAT IN PRIVATE COLLEGE.
  • Private/Autonomous college students are not eligible to apply.
  • Only academic fees will be considered.

Background of the Higher Education Fund Scheme:

Shri Gurpur Dattananda Bhat, a great visionary and philanthropist, was one of the greatest well wishers of our Sabha. In his will, he bequeathed to the Sabha, a sum of Rs. 1.50 crores, of which
Rs. 1.00 crore is to be utilized by the Sabha to provide scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically backward sections of the Gowd Saraswat Brahman community for pursuit of higher education in any field. (The remaining Rs. 50L was towards medical aid). 

This amount of Rs. 1 crore has been credited to a separate endowment called “GSB Sabha’s Higher Education Aid Endowment Fund, Principal Donor : Shri Gurpur Dattandanda Bhat”.

The Managing Committee has taken guidance from some prominent personalities from the field of education and Social work, namely Smt. Gita R. Pai, Chairperson GSB Scholarship League; Dr. Kavita Rege, ex-Principal Sathaye College; Dr. Roshan Bhakta, Hon. Secretary of Liittle Angels Education Trust and Smt. Medha Lotlikar, Special Educator.

Disbursements for this Scheme were started in the Academic Year 2022-23.

Assistance given in Academic Year 2022-2023 through Higher Education Fund

For the Academic Year 2022-2023, the Sabha has disbursed Rs. 5.58 lakhs from this Fund. The amount was disbursed to 18 students, of which 12 were boys and 6 girls. The beneficiary students are pursuing engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and architecture courses.

How to Apply for Education Support:

There is a common application form for both Vidyanidhi & Higher Education Aid.

Kindly note: Vidyanidhi assistance is not a merit scholarship. Whereas, the higher-education assistance is dependent on the merit of the student. We request students to apply on or before October 31st 2024 to avail the same.
