It was thrill and excitement on Sunday, 11th Jan 2026 at the GSBS Sports Club (King’s Circle) grounds where the 14th edition of the V R Shenoy Memorial Inter GSB Cricket Tournament was conducted. This event is supported by an endowment established by Shri Sunil Shenoy, USA who is the son of Late Shri V. R.Shenoy. The tournament also received sponsorship support from Saraswat Co-operative Bank.
The Chief Guest for the inauguration function was Shri Sandeep Vichare, recently elected as Apex Council Member in Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and a Sr. Manager with Mumbai Mahanagar Gas who is a passionate cricket lover and a big enthusiast. In his short and precise motivated speech he emphasized the importance of Community Tournament which keeps all blended together. He was happy to see young cricketers very much geared up and were excited to show their immense talent. He further mentioned that the Community Tournament is a vibrant sporting event with its celebration of cricket passion.
Ten dynamic teams with impressive talent played promising thrilling matches with unforgettable moments. The games were played with high energy and fierce competition. The fast paced limited over matches with qualified umpires and scorer, ensured thrilling action with quick results and unique blend of young talent presenting their skills at its best. Live commentary with fan engagement activities with community footfalls in big numbers kept everyone entertained.
The Finals, played between Andheri X1 vs Dahisar X1, was a seasaw battle of wits and fitness which Andheri X1 won by 8 wkts. Best Batsman and Best Fielder went to Rohan Nayak & Best Bowler and Player of the tournament went to Chirag Nayak, both from GSB Andheri.
The evening prize distribution function was graced by Shri Satish Rama Nayak, Shri Prashant Puranik and Shri Ashok Hegdekar. Trophies, medals and cash prizes were awarded in different categories.
